TikTok is no doubt one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. It’s worth asking, is your business taking advantage of TikTok? While it may have seemed like a platform just for your Gen Z kids, nieces, and nephews, it’s also a place with limitless opportunity and viral potential.

Why Your Business Needs to Take Advantage of TikTok

If you’re wondering whether or not it’s too late to get in, you’re not alone. Many businesses are concerned that they are missing out on this major marketing opportunity, but hesitate to make moves because it is so different from the social media platforms they are used to.

If you’ve been putting TikTok off because you’re worried you missed the window to get on and grow fast, here’s what you need to know: it’s still new enough to get in early and create content for your brand, but there’s a large enough audience that you’ll have viewers right off the bat. It’s a win-win!

On the other hand, you may be wondering if you even need another social media platform. You may already be on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest—does adding TikTok really make a difference? And is it worth the time investment?

Being on TikTok is a worthy long-term investment. Even if you’re slow to become familiar with the app, having the account is a good idea to secure your business name. In fact, stop reading and go sign up now if you haven’t already!

And then continue reading to discover some impressive TikTok stats, learn about the algorithm, and find out how often you should be posting and when, and most importantly, how we can help make your life easier.

Let’s Face the Facts

Since its launch in 2016, TikTok has grown to more than 1 billion monthly active users. To put things in perspective, Instagram has 1.4 billion monthly active users. In the U.S. alone, TikTok has over 138 million active users.

When you break it down by age, it comes as no surprise that those ages 10-19 make up 32.5% of U.S.-based users. But 29.5% of U.S.-based users are ages 20-29, and 16.4% are ages 30-39. We are seeing even older age groups jumping on TikTok with 13.9% being 40-49 and 7.1% being 50+. This means that the TikTok userbase is aging up—all the more reason to get on it now!

We also know that of the 80 million monthly active users in the U.S., 60% are female and 40% are male. 80% are between the ages 16-34. If this is your brand’s target audience, then what are you waiting for?!

There are a few other factors that really highlight the value of TikTok and hint at its continued growth. TikTok is reportedly paying influencers $500 to join the app and start creating content. A top trending song on TikTok is typically a top trending song on Spotify as well, which goes to show its influence. Engagement is incredible. Jennifer Lopez who has the same video on Twitter (45 million followers) and TikTok (5 million followers), got 2 million views on Twitter and 71 million views on TikTok. Don’t worry so much about how many followers you have, the exposure opportunity is great on TikTok.

The TikTok Algorithm

By now you’ve probably been fed up at least once or twice with Instagram’s ever-changing algorithm. Part of the reason why so many people and businesses love TikTok is because of its incredible algorithm and for the exposure it offers. TikTok will give your business access to an audience that other platforms don’t offer. With consistent effort and valuable content, your business will build a growing audience with increased exposure. TikTok is hands down one of the best ways to retain customers, get new ones, and build overall brand awareness. If you’ve been frustrated with the algorithm elsewhere, give TikTok a chance.

How Often to Post to TikTok

Now that you’re ready to join TikTok—YAY!—it’s important to know how often you should post and when. TikTok actually recommends posting 1-4 times per day. This may seem like a lot, so we encourage brands to start off with a goal of once per day. Keep in mind you can repurpose content from other platforms and vice versa. For instance, if you create a Reel for Instagram you can post it on TikTok.

If committing to a post once a day feels daunting, then start off with the best days to post on TikTok, which are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

The best times to post are between 6am and 10am and 7pm to 11pm.
