We’re a month into 2022, and we’d like to call January our warm-up. Wherever you are in regards to your goals and resolutions, and however January went for you, join us in recommitting to our 2022 intentions, starting with a fresh start this February!
In truth, no matter how well-intentioned you may be at the beginning of the new year, what matters most is whether or not you’re willing to be consistent and committed to accomplishing your goals no matter how many obstacles you face or failures you experience.
It’s easy to assume turning the chapter to a new year magically solves all of our problems, but that’s simply not the case. As we welcome a new month, we’re reminded of just how important it is to commit to our goals even when things don’t go our way.
Whether your January was “successful” or rough, calm or chaotic, simple or messy, we’ve got 22 things you can do to improve your health and happiness throughout the rest of the year. These rituals are things that will make it easier to stay committed to what you want to accomplish in 2022 by taking care of your home, your foundation, your center—in other words, YOU. You see, you can’t achieve your goals and then some if you’re feeling unwell, stressed out, or frazzled.
Let’s prioritize self-care, wellbeing, and cultivating joy this year. From a strong foundation everything you strive to achieve will naturally unfold.
Here are 22 things you can do to be healthier and happier in 2022.
Improve Your Mornings:
1. Drink a full glass of water first thing in the morning. Hydrate early and immediately send oxygen to your brain for a healthy boost.
2. Start your day with an inspiring podcast, blog, or nonfiction book. Cultivate a positive mindset at the start of your day by listening to someone or reading something that inspires energy and perseverance.
3. Tongue scrape before brushing your teeth. This ritual promotes detoxification in the body and reduces food cravings. It’s a great practice for the beginning of the day to give you a clean slate.
4. Get moving with a morning walk. Not only is physical activity great first thing in the morning, but this is also a vital practice for improving creativity and reducing anxiety.
5. Drink a superfood smoothie. Load up on fruits and vegetables at the beginning of your day to treat your body to a boost of vitamins, antioxidants, and other nutrients. Include superfoods like cacao, maca, ground flaxseed, or chaga to give yourself a huge health boost!
Invest In Self-Care:
6. Visit the infrared sauna. Infrared saunas are beneficial in detoxing the body, promoting anti-aging and cellular health, and for pain relief and relaxation.
7. Try a float sensory deprivation tank. Float therapy provides deep relaxation, reduces stress and pain, restores magnesium, and lowers cortisol, lactic acid and adrenaline.
8. Book an acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture is known for relieving tension and pain, while also relieving allergies and reducing stress.
9. Treat yourself to a massage. In addition to being an incredibly relaxing experience, massage therapy reduces muscle soreness and tension, and improves circulation and immune function.
10. Get a facial. Your skin receives so much throughout the day—oxidative stress, pollution, dirt and grime, and even negative energy. Treat your skin to a regular facial to take care of your overall well being.
11. Improve your energy with reiki. Improve your sleep and overall mood with reiki, while also returning your mind and body to a state of relaxation.
Reflect, Rest & Reset:
12. Journal your thoughts. On those days when worries and anxieties seem to pile up, it can be helpful to “mind dump” onto the pages of your journal.
13. Cleanse your face. Not only is this an important daily ritual for your skin health, but rethink your evening face wash as a chance to rinse away the day and leave behind everything so you’re ready for a restful night of sleep to prepare you for the next day.
14. Dry brush before you shower. Dry brushing detoxifies your skin, stimulates the nervous system, and gives you an overall radiant glow.
15. Wear a sleep mask and remove light and technology from your bedroom. Ensure you get a deeply restorative night of sleep by removing any traces of light or technology from your bedroom. Use a silk eye mask to make your bedroom even more dreamy.
16. Practice meditation or restorative yoga before bed. It can be difficult to transition from a stressful day to a good night’s sleep if you don’t do anything to unwind. Meditation or restorative yoga are great ways to prepare your mind and body for sleep. If you’re unsure of where to start, YouTube has many amazing videos.
Cultivate Joy:
17. Go on a solo date. When was the last time you did something just for you? Think of something fun you like to do, or something you want to try, and schedule a date for just yourself.
18. Try something entirely new. Take a lesson in something you’ve always wanted to try.
19. Pencil in creative play. What did you love to do as a child? You’re never too old for arts and crafts. Find a creative activity to reconnect with your inner child.
20. Define your purpose. Life is more meaningful when you’re aligned with your authentic purpose. Whenever you feel lost, take a moment to pause and reconnect with why you do what you do.
21. Write down your vision. Whether you want to look one year ahead, three years ahead, or even ten years ahead, it can be incredibly inspiring to write down where you see yourself in the future.
22. Meet your inner mentor. Your inner mentor is your older, wiser self—10, 20, or 30 years older than you currently are. Imagine meeting your inner mentor in your future home. Ask your inner mentor to help you with the biggest obstacle you currently face. Listen as this person responds. This can be a helpful visualization to practice to see that you’ll be okay and that you always have a deeper sense of wisdom available at all times.
You’ll notice many of these practices are aimed at relieving stress. When we’re hustling hard to achieve our goals, it’s important to remember to take care of ourselves along the way. Follow these healthy, happy rituals for an even more successful 2022 than you could possibly imagine!
